Prototypes
The prototypes with blue backgrounds were created by LEGO. The original plan was to release them onto the market in July 1999 as a teaser series. Four of the smaller models were even given official LEGO set numbers. The physical models were given to DDI to use for the video game cutscenes.Source: DDI Dump email from 29 Oct 1998.

Scorpion*
This prototype was featured in the Ultimate LEGO Book. A second higher resolution image was found in LEGO Bricks ‘n’ Pieces, March-April 1999, but part of the vehicle is obscured behind text. Credit to ZANTHERA for the scans.
Repair Exoskeleton
Original description: “This mean thing is ment to be at mobile repair facility”
The vehicle was featured for a brief couple of seconds as part of a concept for a Rock Raiders motion simulator theme park ride. Video clip: Artworld UK showreel 2001
